image of walter before the injuryMy name is Walter and I am an 8 year old English Springer Spaniel. I was born with hip dysplasia in both legs which caused me pain. Despite this I loved to run like the wind, chase balls and generally misbehave. As I got a bit older I began to walk with a limp which put a stop to my ball chasing days and to make matters worse, in the summer of 2004, I damaged the cruciate ligament in my left leg. After image of Walter's injurymajor surgery I initially healed very quickly, but then my limp returned worse then ever and I had no strength or muscle in my rear legs. I was in pain again, but worst of all my gentle daily exercise had to stop completely.

My vet exhausted all other avenues and suggested to my “mum” that I try swimming at the Dog Spa for non-impact treatment.

Image of Walter waiting for his dog swimming programme to beginLater that night whilst lying in front of the fire bored and depressed with only the memories of my ball chasing days to keep me warm, I listened to my “mum” agreeing to try the dog spa. I could tell by her voice that she wasn’t convinced it would help. I was willing to try anything even though I was scared, as I didn’t know what to expect.

October was here and along I went and met Norah, the owner of the dog spa. She assessed me and arranged a tailor made programme to suit my individual needs.

Along I went to start my treatment. Treatment, what treatment, it was bliss, fun, heavenly and all those other doggy things. Norah was nice, the pool big and warm and best of all I got to chase after a ball again – well swim after it actually. If that wasn’t enough I also get a warm shower, a full body blow dry and a yummy treat to end it all.

After only a short time my limp was gone, my hips and legs stronger than ever before, the weight I had gained through lack of exercise had disappeared and my whole body looked toned and fit. I even restarted other regular exercise. I’m happy, “mum’s” happy and my vet is over the moon.

No longer am I depressed, no longer am I bored. As I get into the car with my “mum and aunty” on my way to another treatment I would just like to say thank you Dog Spa, thank you Norah, my bright gleaming eyes and happy thumping tail are all down to you.Image of Walter standing up after treatment
