dog swimming, canine hydrotherapy, canine health spa, spa pool and swimming pool for dogs

Poppy is a 10 year old Miniature Schnauzer. She loves her walks and gets very excited when she hears her collar and lead being taken from the drawer. On one such occasion recently this lead to quite a serious accident. Unfortunately , she ran headlong into a double glazed front door in her hurry to go for a walk.. She sustained an injury to her spine which left her unable to bear her own weight and affected her left side.

Poppy SwimmingThe recommendation for treatment by our vet was massage, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

Within the first week of the accident Poppy came to the Dog Spa. Initially the damaged was assessed and a programme of treament outlined. She had never been in the water before but she was quite happy when she was introduced to the water. She started off treatment with 2 x 2 minutes sessions in the water.

Over the next week it was quite remarkable how she began to improve with daily physiotherapy massage and twice weekly hydrotherapy. Firstly  became able to stand and then to make tentative steps. She soon began to wag her tail when she knew that she was going for a 'swim' session.

Poppy Standing On revisiting our vet he was quite amazed at her rapid recovery as he thought that she might have some permanent damage. Poppy has completed her course of treatment and is now able to go for long walks.and even run again.. Because of the quick referral to the Dog Spa and the intensive treatment given, Poppy is now back to her normal happy self.

Thank you Norah, Jane and Ceri for you efforts and for the support given to us all
